A Visit to LA

Ok, so we all know that I have a bit of a Pinterest addiction (that I have been neglecting lately). On Pinterest I pinned “The Greatest Bookstores in the World” and was thrilled to see that one of them was in Los Angeles.

So Gretchen and I headed out on another great adventure. We made it to The Last Bookstore with no idea what to expect. We knew it would be funky.  To tell you how spectacular it was, I did not even look at any books.  Everywhere I turned there was something fantastic to look at. I took a million pictures that I have uploaded to Flickr.

We walked through the store, trying to get a glimpse of everything and made our way out.  The bookstore was a million degrees and, to be honest, a little disappointing.  We did not think it was one of the greatest bookstores ever.  What made it amazing was the pieces of art all over the store. I think Vroman’s and Powell’s Books are a million times better.

Next on our to do list was lunch.  Gretchen and I like our fo0d and we needed to fill our bellies. I have heard a million good things about Unami Burger and there was one within walking distance. It did not disappoint.

I had the Unami Original Burger- parmesan crisp, shiitake mushroom, roasted tomato, caramelized onions, house ketchup with smothered fries. The picture does not do it justice. To make the meal even better, the manager gave us a card for a free burger next time we visit.  Trust me, we will visit again!!!!!

After a little walking in downtown LA, we headed to The Grove to see If I Stay.

The movie was good (Gretchen said the book was better) and relaxing.  We did a quick lap of The Grove and the Farmer’s Market and got back to the air conditioned car. We were tired and starting to lose our momentum. I think we were still digesting the amazing lunch we had.

LA is a little bit over an hour away from Redlands. It is all freeway getting there, so it is an easy drive.  Traffic is unpredictable, so you never know how long the ride to and from is going to take. Gretchen and I made it about half way home when hunger hit us. How could we say no to our our stomachs?  It had been about seven hours since we ate, so we stopped on the way home, had a yummy meal, did some shopping at Target, and finally made it home.

It was a long, awesome day.  Gretchen and I laughed about the silliest things, had meaningful conversations, and had a great time.

Gretchen, here is your shout out.  I know I was supposed to mention something, but I do not remember what it was.  So, I will just say thank you for being an amazing friend. I love you to death. I love your boys to death.  I even love your husband to death!  And if you find my testes, could you please let me know.
