60th Anniversary of Disney

Let me begin by saying the music director at outer school is AMAZING! I cannot say enough amazing things about Jennifer. I love and respect her so much that I agreed to go to Disneyland when it was open for 24-hours for the 60th anniversary.

I would do it again in a heartbeat. The day was wonderful and so much better than I could have expected.

Dare I say it was one of the best days at Disneyland?

It was!

I had some trouble sleeping the night before. I had to be up early, so I did not sleep much. I even had a dream that I slept through my alarm. Thankfully I woke up on time, actually 15 minutes. I was ready to go and excited. Until Begonia came in with her tail all big and I looked out to see this…

There was a skunk in my backyard and it was not the first time. Now that I think of it, maybe it was Flower!!! I am sorry for the grainy picture, but it was bad lighting, a flash, and a rush.

A co-worker came to pick me up at six in the morning and off we headed to our golden chariots and 150 students. The bus ride was fun and easy. I was more worried that the park would be crazy.

Disneyland’s 60th Anniversary celebration started yesterday. The park was open for 24 hours, from 6am to 6am. People began lining up at ten the night before. The park was expected to be bulging at the seems with visitors. We arrived at the park around 9 and the park was crazy.

I was off duty till around 11:45, so some friends and I rode the train and went to get something to eat. Then the best part of the day happened. I got to go backstage to an actual Disney recording studio. Our students got to work and be conducted by an actual Disney musician. They learned some new music. They got to score and be recorded on actual Disney pieces.  The students were awesome. They impressed me so much and yes I cried. It was a wonderful experience.

After the band workshop, we needed to get the choir ready to perform.

They were amazing too! The performed for about a half hour to a huge crowd. Even Minnie Mouse danced to their singing!

Afterwards, the students were set free to roam the park. That meant time to eat and figure out a game plan. What surprised us the most was how dead the park was. We were able to walk through the crowd. We heard that people were not allowed in the park, gates were closed. We actually walked onto the Haunted Manison ride.

We walked onto Pirates of the Caribbean .

We walked onto Indiana Jones.

Those were the only three rides we rode. We stopped to watched the newest firework show, Disneyland Forever. It was spectacular. Disney knows how to do fireworks! I got home around 11:30, exhausted.

It was a great day. I got a hug from Goofy. I got a special pair of mouse ears.

And in closing, I have a stalker.
