Week Two, Day One

I woke up this morning and was in no rush to get out of bed. I knew that if I got out of bed I would need to head to the gym.

My first excuse to not workout.

I was not in the mood. I was looking for any excuse.

I finally rolled out of bed, got dressed, and got in the car. I got into the car and realized I forgot my purse. When I got out of the car, I whacked my knee pretty good on the car door.

Two more excuses I could have used to not go workout.

I drove to the gym and realized that I forgot my headphones.

Another reason to not hit the treadmill.

I drove home and got my headphones. I finally made it to the gym and got my butt kicked by Week Two, Day One of the Couch to 5K program.

Screen-shot-2014-02-22-at-7.35.32-PMIt is amazing how such a small change in the program can really make things more difficult. I will admit that I thought about walking instead of running. I will admit that I did not alway run the entire 90 seconds.

But I did it! Despite everything that was trying to deter me, I did it! The voices in my head tried to talk me out of it, but they were not that loud. My mind was pretty much set that I needed to do this.

I enjoy my workouts. It is hard, I sweat like crazy, and everyday it gets easier.  I do not care what the others in the gym think. I am not doing this for them.  It is for me.

Tomorrow may be harder, but that is tomorrow.  Today I was successful!
