Pixels

Today was one of those days that I was not sure if things would turn out okay and yet everything fell into place. My plan was to go see a movie, do so much needed grocery shopping, and have mom over for dinner.

First, I went to the guys and started to run again. It felt great. I cannot believe how much I missed it. I started myself back on Week One of th Couch to 5K program and that is okay. I even was on the rowing machine for a bit and did some crunches.

I almost missed the movie and I am so glad I made it. Pixels was so much better than I expected.

The critics panned it and Adam Sandler movies are usually studiply crude. This time I thought he did a great job! I enjoyed the movie and would recommend it. If you keep your expectations low, you might enjoy it too. One thing that always draws me to an Adam Sandler movie is his love for the 80s, especially the music and references. His choice of music is excellent and this movie made me feel like a kid again.

After the movie I did another big shopping trip. During the summer my schedule is so off that I rarely make a weekly trip to the grocery store. My fridge looks like a bachelor’s fridge. I stocked up on the staples, got a much needed pair of tweezers, and spent a monster amount of money. But now I have a fully stocked kitchen and ready for the week!

What surprised me more than anything today was that my mom wanted to come over to watched Maleficent.

We had both already seen it, but wanted to see if it was as good as we remembered. It was even better. Mom was not able to eat dinner, but she got out of the house. I could not ask for more!

I between all that, I finished my book The Opposite of Loneliness.

I heard so many amazing things about this book that I hate to admit I found the book a bit boring. The author was a fantastic writer and some of her pieces were very moving. I understand that this was a collection of her short stories and essays. Maybe if I have read each piece seperatley and not one after the other I would have appreciated this book more. Needless to say, we lost an amazing writer when Marina Keegan passed. She was killed in a car accident in 2012. I would have loved to have seen how she could have changed the world through her writing.
