Better than a red carpet!

I work up this morning at 3:45 to do the Star Wars 10K at Disneyland. It was not hard to get up before then sun because I was so excited111 Not only was it Star Wars, but I was going to get to see the park before the crowds came.

Blurry, but that is the starting line!

RUN!!!!!!!

RUN!!!!!!!

We ran through both parks. We saw characters along the way. We saw people dressed in amazing costumes. Actually, I was surprised that not more people were dressed in costumes. Every step along the way we had encouragement from Disney workers clapping and cheering us along.

I ran very little of the 10K, but I power walked my butt off! It was my first 10K and I was a little worried that I would not be able to keep up. Thankfully I did. I could not give up! I wanted my medal!!!!!

It took me about two hours to walk the 6.2 miles and I would do it again tomorrow. I loved it. The loot for the race was not that great, but I will not complain. Some loot is better than no loot!

The loot: a long sleeve shirt, race bib, and medal.

I am pretty sure I will be wearing this shirt everyday for the next million or so days. The medal I will wear until it falls off.

I was a little worried that I would be sore after the race, but I actually feel pretty good. I hide tomorrow I will feel just as good.

Last night we hit the race expo. It was Christmas for runners. I bought I cute sign from Sport Hooks that will arrive in a few weeks.  The lady who sold it to me was great. She was excited for me and gave me some words of encouragement for my first 10K. It helped to put my fears at ease. She even gave me a little ornament.

After the race I had to go back to the expo and let her know that I completed the race. She gave me another hug and that was the icing on my cake.

I know I should rest and savor the moment of this race, but I have already been looking at new races to run. As I mentioned, I walked most of this one. I really want to run most of one. And I want more medals.

Lot of medals!
