Ashes to ashes

I have to say that this probably the most exciting Ash Wednesday that I have ever had and I hope that I never have one like this again!

My day was pretty going along as most days do. Work went well. Yoga kicked my butt again. I sweated like is was a million degrees in the room. I shook and keeping falling off balance. Still I concentrated on my breathing and I got through. It felt great. As I left the studio, I was excited about dinner. I checked my cell phone and saw that I had a message from my dad.

He NEVER leaves a message.

Dad: Sam, Mom fell and is in the Emergency Room. The ambulance came
to the house.

I called my dad immediately. He told me to come down to the ER.

Forget dinner.

My mom was on a gurney and looked miserable. I learned that she had tripped over the extension cord to the leaf blower and fell. She broke her hip and possibly her shoulder. They admitted her to hospital for the night. She will probably have surgery tomorrow- for sure on her hip, maybe on her shoulder. She will probably have extensive physical therapy and may be put into a nursing home while she is recovering.

I say possibly because we have not spoken to the orthopedic surgeon yet. He will come by early tomorrow morning and let us know what he wants to do.

I hate the waiting game.

My mom is in so much pain. The nurse could not give her much until he heard from the doctor to see when she was having surgery, so she was in pain for hours. As I was leaving, the nurse was able to give her some morphine. The morphine helped, but did not get rid of the pain. When I left she was still waiting for a room.

Now I have to decide if I go to work tomorrow or not. I plan on going to visit in the morning before I go to work. I will make my decision then. I am going to try to get a good nights rest and prepare myself for tomorrow.

Please say a little prayer for my mom. God and I will be having a talk tonight.
